but the streets of san Francisco are really f00ked up.....so bad that even my out of town friends ask me about it. (i/e i need some clearance)
You could get a set of H&R coil-overs and adjust as you see fit they have up to a 2.5 in drop ($1105). You could also get KW coil-overs for up to a 3.1 inch drop ($1355-1899 depending on variant).

I have KW Variant 3s. My car is lowered about 2.5 inches. I am not rubbing and I do not have problems with scraping or bottoming out. The roads in Indiana are not very good either.

I am contemplating going lower.

thanks Alaskablue i've only bottomed out once, and that was going over a speed bump in a supermarket parking lot with 4 people in the car. but with all the talk of budget $ around here and lack of it, it looks like it'll be awhile until roads r fixed priorities FFS!

This is a very late reply to this question, but I want to get this up here for future reference.

From the Bentley manual. *This may vary for the ti since it is just listed as 318 models*:

All ride height measurements are from center of wheel arch to bottom of wheel rim.

Front Wheels

15 inch wheels
Standard - 22.67 inches
Sport - 22.09 inches

16 inch wheels
Standard - 23.19 inches
Sport - 22.60 inches

17 inch wheels
Standard - 23.77
Sport - 23.19

Rear Wheels

15 inch wheels
Standard - 20.39
Sport - 19.96

16 inch wheels
Standard - 20.91
Sport - 20.47

17 inch wheels
Standard - 21.69
Sport - 21.06

From www.tirerack.com:

H&R Sport Springs
Front -1.4 inches
Rear -1.0 inches

H&R Race Springs
Front -2.2 inches
Rear -1.2 inches

Interestingly, they apparently don't carry the Eibach Pro Kit for our cars anymore. It doesn't show up on the search. Additionally, all the stuff for the the ti no longer shows up on the US Eibach site. So, from www.eibach.de:

Eibach Pro Kit
Front -1.18 inches
Rear -1.18 inches

Eibach Sport Line
Not listed for 318ti
