You probably know already but make sure you weld or use loctite on the oil pump nut. | | | 07-28-2008, 06:15 PM | #152 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: asdfasdf Posts: 10,002 | a $36 x-brace, an authentic ACS 3-piece spoiler traded for your old dash and sunroof panel, a $50 E30 diff... you have no idea how jealous I am | | | 07-28-2008, 07:20 PM | #153 | NOBODY F's with the Jesus Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: Ventura California Posts: 7,824 | Quote: Originally Posted by thesk8nmidget how much did those run ya ? | A little more than I wanted to spend, but still a deal none the less. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWN:IT&ih=015 Paid $27.50 for the pair shipped, normally they're 35 bucks each. The frames are actually different colors, one is chrome and the other is smoked, but since they go on opposite sides of the car, nobody will ever notice __________________ 4 MORE YEARS BABY!!! | | | 07-28-2008, 07:29 PM | #154 | NOBODY F's with the Jesus Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: Ventura California Posts: 7,824 | Quote: Originally Posted by StealthBimmer You probably know already but make sure you weld or use loctite on the oil pump nut. | Definitely. I was planning to safety wire it. I'll squirt some loctite on it while I'm at it. I'm also getting ready to do both of our headliners The e30 diff turned out to be an open diff, but I need the cover, halfshafts and flanges anyway. Still need to find/buy an e24 or e28 3.46 LSD though __________________ 4 MORE YEARS BABY!!! | | | 07-28-2008, 08:01 PM | #155 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: asdfasdf Posts: 10,002 | oh, well I'm still jealous EDIT: DDM Tuning has the BMW Motorsports badges for $20 looks like you didn't get the best deal | | | 07-29-2008, 12:40 AM | #156 | NOBODY F's with the Jesus Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: Ventura California Posts: 7,824 | Found some heartbreaking news today while looking over the s52. Nothing big and I'm really not that upset over it. First thing I noticed, the elbow where the power steering hose goes into the pump is pinched and leaking. No biggie, I remember seeing an e36 at my local junkyard. I could probably snag the hose for 5 bucks. The bigger problem is that I found a 2" hairline crack on the bottom of my oil pan which was leaking also. I couldn't see it earlier because of all the grease caked on underneath it. Here's the deal with that, I have these aluminum rods that are used like solder to repair cracks in aluminum. You heat the area with a torch and rub the rod over the crack until it melts and seals the crack. It should work and after you sand it smooth, it won't even be noticeable. The other option is to take it to my friend that I had weld the starter bracket on my old ClubSport. He'd be able to weld it from the inside and it'll be fixed as good as new. I'm leaning towards option 2 since I'll have the pan off anyway while I'm replacing the gasket. The funny thing about this whole thing is that the only reason I bought the x-brace today was to protect my oil pan. I didn't give a crap about stiffening up the front end of the chassis, I just liked the idea of having something solid blocking debris from hitting the aluminum pan. Of course I bought the x-brace before I even noticed the crack, so thats kinda ironic. Anyway, just a couple little bumps in the road. I'll make due somehow and like I said, I'm not really bummed about either of these issues. __________________ 4 MORE YEARS BABY!!! | | | 07-29-2008, 06:16 AM | #157 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2008 Location: CORONA, Ca Posts: 123 | IT looks amazing!! | | | 08-01-2008, 02:10 AM | #158 | NOBODY F's with the Jesus Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: Ventura California Posts: 7,824 | Spent another day at the junkyard. Came home with an M50 intake manifold and cover. $35 for the manifold, 12 bucks for the cover. Pocketed some radiator clips for spares, might go back for the coils(mine are good but wouldn't mind having a few extras on hand). So here's the deal, if I install that manifold, I think I'm going to have to get my ecu reprogramed. It already has Dinan software, so its probably going to be pretty pricey. That manifold was a biotch to remove from the 325is @ the junkyard and I really don't want to try to install it with the engine in the car. Should I fork out the cash and send my ecu to Dinan? Does anyone in SoCal (Noah) have a guesstimate on how much the "M" Shop in Eagle Rock would charge to do a Dyno-Tune? Oh yeah, I picked up that e30 diff today. It's a 4.10 ratio, also known as a poor man's supercharger. It's a little too steep for what I'm going for. Good for drag racing, but brutal on fuel economy. I'll probably just swap the cover, flanges and halfshafts and sell it for cheap. __________________ 4 MORE YEARS BABY!!! | | | 08-01-2008, 05:56 AM | #159 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2007 Location: LA, Bellflower, CA Posts: 3,613 | nice. good job on finding a M50 manifold for cheap __________________ -Theta Chi- Float like a cadilac, sting like a BIMMER .... my socket is just too thick and won't fit in the hole! damnit! No biggie, I'm sure I have extra bolts laying around somewhere and I'm pretty sure my Ti is already fitted with the nutserts. Spent more money today for a set of sticky tires. Got a killer deal on a set of 235/40/17 Yokohama Advan A032R's. $420 shipped for all four, only 105 bucks each! The guy has 4 left. These are R compound tires for those who don't know and are exceptional for track or auto-x. They're DOT legal and can be shaved down to slicks as my last set of Toyo RA1's were. I've ran Yoko's in the past and have had awesome experiences with them. They make this tire in an "S" (soft) and "H" (hard) compound. These are the "S" compound, so I expect them to wear a little faster. I'm still debating but I might just buy the other set for later use. It's such a good deal and if nobody here buys the other set, I probably will. Here's a link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWN:IT&ih=022 Google "YOKOHAMA ADVAN A032R" and read the reviews. BTW I have a set of 235/40/17 tires that I purchased used about two months ago and never mounted. I paid $160 for them, but I'll let them go for 25 bucks each. Never heard of the brand before, "Bavarius"? Bobbak said he had a set before and they were ok. These have apprx 70% of tread left, LMK if anyones interested. __________________ 4 MORE YEARS BABY!!! | | | 08-06-2008, 02:35 AM | #163 | NOBODY F's with the Jesus Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: Ventura California Posts: 7,824 | Bump for the evening crew, someone should jump on those tires! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...ksid=p3907.m29 Tirerack used to sell them for $179+shipping, $105 shipped is a steal! __________________ 4 MORE YEARS BABY!!! | | | 08-06-2008, 05:49 AM | #164 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: SoCal Posts: 305 | Jess I dont think the m shop does dyno tuning. I'm waiting on gaskets/seals and a bentley manual as we speak. I could've just slapped the motor in and called it good, but I just don't want to run into any issues later down the road. Only problem is the longer it takes, the more I spend. It's hard to pass up the deals and while it's apart, I figure I might as well mod it. This is gonna be a fast little bugger once it's up and running. __________________ 4 MORE YEARS BABY!!! | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
