I do Insurance Appraisals for various insurance companies, so I see a lot of carnage. Be careful out there, people. Speed kills. I have seen cars cut in half by going off the road sideways at speed and hitting poles or oak trees.... I noticed all ti owners wave out on the highway... __________________ Love ALL Bimmers. Replaced headliner years ago out of a Jeep Cherokee and it was a clinch. Now with my ti, I'm more nervous about the sunroof part. from the looks of it there's a lot of DIY's, but 110-150 for a headliner PROFESSIONAL replacement sounds like a better deal. __________________ TRZ Photography:http://www.thejasonpproject.com ------------------------------------------ 1999 BMW 318ti M-Sport 1999 Toyota Tacoma Ext Cab 4x4 TRD | | | 04-01-2011, 01:56 AM | #143 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: asdfasdf Posts: 10,002 | do you not have any hatch shocks? if not, get a pair ASAP, if the hatch slams without shocks it will shatter the rear window | | | 04-01-2011, 04:43 AM | #144 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2011 Location: Toronto Canada Posts: 143 | Quote: Originally Posted by tiFreak do you not have any hatch shocks? if not, get a pair ASAP, if the hatch slams without shocks it will shatter the rear window | baahhhaaahahhaa you cought me. like a dog stealing treats from the cats food dish. lol Thats funny, Man both of them are shot and I never even saw some as bad as these... They call it a shortened pressurized gas spring so it's unlikely you would stumble across it by searching. For future reference it's listed under bodywork, trunk lid. | | | 04-01-2011, 04:29 PM | #146 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2008 Location: Rodeo, CA Posts: 226 | You can also get the rear hatch lifts aftermarket from O'Reilly / Kragen / Checker parts stores. I think they may be cheaper, or at least you wouldn't have to wait for them if they have them in stock. I have them on my '96, for over a year they seem to be fine. __________________ Love ALL Bimmers. I dont have any of those stores in canada. I think part source is my only chance for a part store, I think its basicully the same as what you listed above... as for taking out the headliner with that broom handle in the way its impossible.. i had to take that out of the way because I couldnt slide the head board out... I had to hoist the hatch on my head and then use both hands to slide out the headliner board. Man that was a nightmare without those hatch struts, I was worried about creasing the fibre board! That was very hard and it involved some thinking.. Now That's using your head! hehe thanks again for the info on the struts, i really needed that part number. YOu can use a pair of vise grips too. Now don't you feel silly fighting that damn hatchback? LOL. (Don't worry about damaging the hydrolic rods, you are replaceing them anyway, right? (Two pairs of vise grips works the best...) __________________ Love ALL Bimmers. I got a laugh out of the guy next door when he came running over to help as he saw me struggling with the hatch on my head.. By the time he got there I had the liner out. what a joke! Lifes too short to not have a goodtime, tho using the vice grips would have been smarter.. I gave him a beer and we talked for a few hours afterwards, Its nice to see who would come running to your aid when your havin a smart moment lol. i guess he thought it fell on my head .... lol thanks for your help, too bad I didnt have you around to give me the idea beforehand. I wouldnt have a bruse on my head enjoy building cars.. | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
