I'm likely going to go with the E36 M3 version (it's a track car that I've already removed the parking brake from). | | | 05-26-2018, 03:43 AM | #48 | Member Join Date: Dec 2017 Location: NoVA Posts: 49 | Yes/no. The abs sensor is retained so if a wheel locks up, abs will kick in. If you continually lock up front vs rear or rear vs front, you may need a bias/proportioning valve to put more pressure front/rear or play with the brake pad compounds. I tried putting mine on today and found two issues. First, my brake lines won't reach with the M3 calipers. Anyone know if the E36 M3 rear line is longer, or have a solution? Second, once everything gets bolted up my pad hangs off the outside edge of the rotor by about 1/8". It's probably not going to make a notable difference, but I'd hate to give up surface area if I don't have to. Did anyone else experience that, and if so how did you correct it? | | | 06-24-2018, 01:11 PM | #54 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2003 Location: Northern IL Posts: 263 | Here's what I'm talking about. | | | 07-01-2018, 02:54 PM | #55 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2003 Location: Northern IL Posts: 263 | Quote: Originally Posted by jdehaan Has anyone done the M3 Extreme kit? However a solution would just be to extend the hardline to get a soft line from local store/look up on REALOEM and see length. Can't say about the pad fitment, but it shouldn't hurt much. I took BimmerBum's advice when buying and stayed stock with more aggressive pad choice. However it's a street car that I putz around in. I know for the cost Bluebimma's CL600 rear brake kit he used worked quite well and was extremely cheap. As long as you can fab some hangers. | | | 01-31-2019, 07:29 AM | #57 | Junior Member Join Date: Mar 2017 Location: Riverside, CA Posts: 24 | AAAAHHHHHH!!!! I bought re-manufactured calipers (even powdercoated red!) and new rotors from Rock Auto super cheap; I saw no need for sourcing and pull-it yard stuff. The only two issues I’ve had are losing the parking brake (track car...more weight gone!) and the short flex line issue. My solution on that was to run the calipers on the opposite sides of the car so the (stock size, but SS braided) lines reach the caliper fittings. This works fine, EXCEPT you have to pull the caliper to bleed the rear (the fittings are aimed down and are lower than the high spot). Eventually, I’ll source some 90-degree brake fittings and swap the calipers back; that will simplify the bleeding. I’m also going to add a proportioning valve since I have no ABS and there’s a little too much rear bias with my gutted setup (very light rear). __________________ '97 318ti/S52 swap/e36 M3 Brakes F&R/SRS Rear Caliper Adapter/TRM C2 17x8.5 Wheels/245-40-70 Hankook RS3s/Rogue RSMs/BC Coilover and Camber Plates/large swaybars/partially gutted. | | | 02-01-2019, 11:15 AM | #60 | Junior Member Join Date: Mar 2017 Location: Riverside, CA Posts: 24 | Quote: Originally Posted by 95///M3 Well, in Simon's defense, he did update the product page quite some time ago to reflect the correct parts. | Ya ... it’s my bad for waiting so long to follow up with this project. I just wish he would’ve gotten the parts/information correct the first time when he sold this kit originally. I have somehow managed to ridiculously luck out and there was a 3.0 Z4 at my local pickapart. I went and scored everything I needed today for a little over $100.
