Needs some TLC, but all the base things are in good shape. New to car M44, Remus exhaust, heated seats, clean, but needs hood paint. It's in generally good shape. I'll be making my renewal list. It's the right color tho... I grew up with Verts and while the Cali is nice for a big sunroof, it's not a vert. Main motive was price, shell and interior condition. New struts/shocks, new battery and overall clean car. A lady owned the car and used it for 180 mile daily commutes. High mileage, but reportedly highway miles. I suspect so as the suspension arms and steering components show minimal wear and tear. I actually wanted a Z3M, but this was less than a 5th of the going cost and I have immediate available spares for most all that needs repair. Motor runs strong, but needs a oil pan gasket. Also needs tranny mounts and a flex disc. I think I have new spares in storage. Codes show it needs a O2 rear sensor. Started to polish out the headlights, reattached the rear view mirror, put on a fresh hood Roundel and removed the leopard skin seat covers. __________________ 1998 318ti Sport - "Cali" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior, Cali top 1998 318ti Sport - "Max" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior, S52 1997 318ti Sport - "Tiny" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior 1995 318ti Active - "Blanca" Alpineweib III/Schwartz leather interior Other Current Bimmers: 2006 530i / 2000 2.3L Z3 / 1997 1.9L Z3 / 1999 540it 1997 318ti Sport - "Huera" - RIP 1995 318ti Active - RIP 1995 318ti Sport - "Tiny" Sold 1994 325i Sedan - "Jade" - Sold 1991 318ic - "Bert" - Sold 1985 635csi sold 1984 533i "Max" Sold 1984 318i sold BMWCCA #160411 SUPPORT 318ti.org! The Z3's are starting to grow on me... It'll be nice that you have all those spare parts. They don't have a whole lot of utility though, other than catching a tan (which is nice). I've enjoyed driving mine with shades, bmw driving gloves, and a bmw jacket..So I look like a proper jerk. I can't believe that you'd nix the leopard covers. I figured if I use it for commuting, I can still get some groceries and 60lbs of dog food. I did pull out a bunch of renewal parts for the TIs that are same part#s for what I need on the Z3. Something to be said about standardizing some aspect of your vehicles... - Flex Disc replaced
- Cleaned heat shields
- Exhaust gasket and nuts addressed
- Tranny mounts replaced
- Short weighted shift knob installed
- Figured out how to get into the Subwoofer for inspection. Subwoofer looks and sounds clear. The rear drivers side mid is blown as is the passenger lower mid/low in the kick panel. Additionally, the drivers door speakers are not working. Repaired the cracks in the Subwoofer lid from underneath.
- Adjusted trunk lock
The car was running smooth and sounding healthy after addressing both the Flex Disc and the exhaust issue. Then, after a little spirited driving, a terrible, constant misfire. My BT reader indicated that the #4 plug started misfiring. Upon inspection, the boot was torn off and #4 plug was shorting on the block. I ordered new Magnecor wires and in the meantime, I'll see if I have a spare in storage this weekend to temp replace while I wait for the new wires. I also noticed a familiar rattle behind the drivers seat. I suspect the Drivers side RSM is blown. I'll replace them both and install the reinforcement plates. No worries, i'm expecting to find stuff and just address them. I should prolly post this in a Z3 site, but since much of the work to be done is just about identical as to what you need to do to a TI for reference, I figure I'd update here, unless anyone objects.
