I just finished pulling the motor from the donor car, power washed it, and in a few days, will start replacing gaskets and making sure everything is ready to go. I'm pulling the ti motor this thursday. =) What really gets me is how people have pulled motor and tranny as a single unit. Thats what we did and I'll tell you what a pain. I'm glad I'm junking the rest of this car when I'm done, because we had to take off the front clip, drop the power steering rack, and remove motor mounts from the engine itself. That isn't exactly what I've seen other people doing. A lot of work it was. I will definitely NOT being trying to drop motor and tranny into the TI as a unit. I think its going to be a lot easier dropping motor and sliding tranny forward. I'll post some pictures tomorrow. | | | 10-30-2015, 05:24 AM | #17 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2013 Location: Seattle Posts: 513 | Quote: Originally Posted by wolferj I was thinking backwards on the engine harness/body harness... But you don't need to worry about that, you will just have a extra spot on the harness for a connection to the Trans stuff you won't use. . | Hey James, I have a question about this. I'm researching my swap and this is the first I've seen of the body ECU caring about the transmission type. I thought that if going from auto to manual and the engine DME were from manual, all is good in the world. Is that not the case? Thanks. | | | 10-30-2015, 04:21 PM | #18 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: norcal - 94590 Posts: 3,186 | Quote: Originally Posted by BRADESTAR Hey James, I have a question about this. You will need to address; Back up switch Cruise control Body side ECM None of these things will stop the car from running, just a few things that will make the swap more complete... __________________ James 95 active w/leather interior and sport interior conversion, Vaders, full M-Tech exterior conversion. It's the perfect opportunity. I first used UUC trans mounts, but they were a joke. Replaced them with OE e46 trans mounts, and they are perfect. | Too much vibration and noise for your tastes? We have a small case behind an S52 and it's been there for 7 lemons races and if that i not abuse I don't know what abuse constitutes. | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 2 (0 members and 2 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
