So i got a 98 5-speed mteck with m52 full swapped and thinking about what the best LSD i should get. Was thinking about welding the diff, but wanting to know what else is good out there for a differential swapped. Building this for car show, but ideal to drift too. Please help. Thanks! __________________ 1998 318ti Alpine White M-Tech w/California Roof 1998 318ti Black 1996 328i 4dr Alpine White 1998 Audi A4 2.8L Quattro 1996 Eclipse GST & Supra MKIV Tail Lights Conversion #DIYassFCK | | | 10-15-2015, 07:14 AM | #2 | Member Join Date: Jun 2015 Location: Florida Posts: 33 | I'm def not an expert, I asked a similar question and was told to get a lsd out of an E30. Not sure about the drifting part though. Then i believe you have to switch out the cv axles too? __________________ 1998 318ti Alpine White M-Tech w/California Roof 1998 318ti Black 1996 328i 4dr Alpine White 1998 Audi A4 2.8L Quattro 1996 Eclipse GST & Supra MKIV Tail Lights Conversion #DIYassFCK | | | 11-03-2015, 07:44 PM | #4 | Member Join Date: May 2013 Location: uk Posts: 33 | A e30 or z3 will fit with slight work to the body with a lump hammer only ever slight, the cups can be changed so you can still use your original drive shafts or you could get e30 325i ones or z3 2.8 ones which are slightly thicker. Just done this to my compact used a z3 lsd can't remember the ratio of hand but still using the 1.6 drive shaft just swapped the cups over from the original diff to the new one jobs a Bobby dazzler. But make sure you double check the torque and use loctight on the nuts that connects the propshaft to the diff, mine span of and caused a lot of vibration and being 300 miles away and not being able to go above 50mph was crap Sent from my E6553 using Tapatalk | | | 11-04-2015, 08:00 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2008 Location: Globally Posts: 1,162 | Kind of depends on which gear box you have. if you have an 1:1 ratio gear box you don't want an E30 3.73 lsd, you would want an E LSD in the ration of 2.93 to no more than a 3.46 LSD. Unless you like having it bouncing on the rev limiter. You can also source a Z3 LSD or a E28 535i LSD.
