Were you seeing some very high oil temperatures? | | | 12-03-2009, 04:03 AM | #62 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2008 Location: Oceanside, CA Posts: 421 | Quote: Originally Posted by pnosker Wow that's a lot of money... what made you want to do this in the first place? I have no clue what oil temp I was running before since I didn't have an oil cooler. I can only assume it wasn't the best possible... __________________ 2003 Z4 2.5i 2002 Ducati Monster S4 | | | 01-29-2010, 07:30 AM | #63 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2009 Location: san jose Posts: 425 | Quote: Originally Posted by lpcapital Ok, so I'm back at this... I also end up buying an old M42 oil filter housing on eBay (this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=180344655562) and have called Ireland Engineering to see if their oil filter cap for the M5x work. I'll call them back once I receive the item so I can give them the measures so we can see if it would work... | where can i get that oil adapter pic??? | | | 01-29-2010, 07:42 AM | #64 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2005 Location: Portland Or Posts: 2,666 | Yep you would have needed a o-ring to AN fitting rather than pipe. Its the same as the ones on the setrab cooler. I never chince on oil coolers or lines. Put too many car-b-q's out at the track becasue of burst lines. Aeroquip or don't bother. Very nice install! Dave | Thanks Dave. For the adapter plate it's made by Mocal and here in the US can be bought from BAT Inc. However as designed won't fit: it's meant to go on the M42, not the M44. Apparently the alternator bracket on the M42 is different. That's why I welded the fittings: that way I was able to make it very tight design. Also you'll noticed the alternator bracket will have to be modified. __________________ 2003 Z4 2.5i 2002 Ducati Monster S4 | | | 01-29-2010, 05:58 PM | #66 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2005 Location: Portland Or Posts: 2,666 | Well I have a M42 so it would rock on my car. I just did the gasket a week ago. Now I'm thinking I should have planned better. On the other hand, I wasn't in the mood to do much else out in the cold garage.... It would probably require some customization. Not sure... But if you have do go that route, let me know: I still have about 2 feet of Aeroquip hose at home which I can sell you... __________________ 2003 Z4 2.5i 2002 Ducati Monster S4 | | | 01-29-2010, 07:21 PM | #68 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2005 Location: Portland Or Posts: 2,666 | I work part time at a race shop that builds race cars..... I need ot look , but I used some fittings a while back that were right angle swivels that went directly into the setrab cooler and had AN6 or 8 lines on them.... Hmm. Gotta do some research at the shop when I have some time. Looking at the MOCAL plat I'm pretty sure I could machine a block of Aluminum with the exits to the rear, would be a possibility... Gonna have to look at that some more.... You just cut it to make it into a plate and weld on the fittings __________________ 2003 Z4 2.5i 2002 Ducati Monster S4 | | | 01-29-2010, 07:42 PM | #70 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2005 Location: Portland Or Posts: 2,666 | I usually try not to weld on things that hold pressure. I always try to go single billet first then if I have to weld. I've had too many bits crack even when top notch guys weld it. Our shop is here: http://www.competitionmotorsports.com/ I don't sell anything. I trade seat time for helping keep the cars running. Ron the owner is a old school guy. He has the web page becasue its just necessary these days but he focuses on supporting local racers. He also does not make non race cars much of a focus. We don't do much street Tuner stuff. Too much liability and too many stupid people. If you watch the front page slide show, I've worked on most of the cars. The #16 200SX is just getting finished up, we dropped a new power plant in, the CA18T got replaced with a SR20DET and the car already had the CP record at Thunder Hill, Portland International and Pacific Raceway. It will be a SPU/W or ITE car now. Upgraded to 300ZX brakes as well. The Midget has a Cosworth BDA in it. really fun toy... The sprint is a non-wing 360 Chev. Makes over 600 HP on methanol. In a car that weighs about 1500 with the driver... Yep my name is Dave Taylor and I have a racing problem.
