I thought I read that while most aftermarket cats were prone to issues that some folks had luck with larger one like Miller or Eastern Automotive? There is aslo the elusive Wayne Angle Block, but I still have no idea where to find one I just had my indi mechanic replace the pre cat (front) O2 sensor yesterday and now I have to drive and hope for no more codes before inspection day next week! | | | 06-10-2009, 09:42 PM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2007 Location: Elizabeth City, NC Posts: 3,877 | Wayne angle block simply removes the O2 sensor from the exhaust stream and this keeps the CEL off when running an aftermarket cat. Bottom line is any aftermarket cat will cause P0420, the WAB is used to "avoid" that code. This FAQ explains the Wayne block and where to get it. Mine has worked flawlessly for the 2500 miles it has been installed. http://www.42draftdesigns.com/faq.htm#test __________________ ~Dave~ 98 328ti Morea Grun slicktop 11 128i space gray slicktop 13 JGC WK2 Deep Cherry Search | RealOEM | | | 06-10-2009, 09:59 PM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2009 Location: Milford, NH Posts: 150 | Quote: Originally Posted by spidertri Wayne angle block simply removes the O2 sensor from the exhaust stream and this keeps the CEL off when running an aftermarket cat. So you supply the application (your ti in this case) the unit you get is made specifcally for your application. | | | 08-21-2009, 07:56 PM | #12 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: PA Posts: 822 | Quote: Originally Posted by Coop540iT I could be mistaken, but I believe these are machined to be application specific. So far no more CEL after replacing the front & rear O2 sensors, but I know that could chage at any point | | | 08-21-2009, 08:15 PM | #14 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: PA Posts: 822 | Quote: Originally Posted by Coop540iT Glad to help I'll be curious to find out what he says as I have an after market DEC Cat . It worked fine for a few months, but then the catalytic efficiency code started to be thrown again. i can reset the CEL but within 100 miles the CEL is back on. I need to get my car inspected. I'll keep you posted. __________________ Clever but we are clueless... The threads on the angle block are M18 X 1.5mm which is 99.9% of all oxygen sensors. Plus, I sell a few to the BMW crowd so I know this will fit your application. : ) Mine should arrive this Friday. I will put it on this weekend and will let you all know what the results are. __________________ Clever but we are clueless...
