I just went with those since they are actually for our car. __________________ K&N Cone Filter with Heat Shield, Racing Dynamics Strut bar, Blisten yellow sport suspension, Clears all around, Angel eyes, Dinan Engine Chip, Infinity BassLink 10" Sub, Lightweight Aluminum Flywheel | | | 09-27-2007, 10:37 PM | #47 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2006 Location: Wisconsin Posts: 1,895 | Struts That's cool. I don't think we have that store here in southeastern Wisconsin. __________________ ... ʎɐqǝ uo pɹɐoqʎǝʞ ɐ ʎnq ı ǝɯıʇ ʇsɐן ǝɥʇ sı sıɥʇ | | | 09-28-2007, 02:08 AM | #48 | Member Join Date: Jan 2007 Location: Omaha, NE Posts: 56 | I ordered the Stablius struts for the Blazer from RockAuto and installed them last weekend. The length seems pretty good on them, but they are too strong. It's pretty difficult to close the hatch with one hand. I'm hoping that they'll weaken a bit as they sit around compressed. | | | 10-02-2007, 06:49 AM | #49 | Junior Member Join Date: Apr 2004 Location: Arlington, TX Posts: 26 | 318tiRedLeather This summer, I had O'Reilly near me order the ones their computer said were for the 318. They came and were about 2/3 the length of stock. I returned them. Did they give me the wrong part? Have you gotten yours? | | | 10-02-2007, 02:45 PM | #50 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2006 Location: Wisconsin Posts: 1,895 | That happened to me at Advance Auto Parts. They ordered the part and when it came in he handed me this tiny thing. Must be for a 318i trunk or something like that. __________________ ... ʎɐqǝ uo pɹɐoqʎǝʞ ɐ ʎnq ı ǝɯıʇ ʇsɐן ǝɥʇ sı sıɥʇ | | | 10-02-2007, 10:18 PM | #51 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2005 Location: Plano Texas Posts: 206 | Yea i noticed that too, when i had posted i had just ordered them and then when i went to go pick them up they were the wrong part. That said, there are a few things about them you should know. 1) Because of the extra length, the hatch sticks up very high... nothing that is going to wreck your vehicle, but higher than stock. 2) One hatch strut held my hatch up, but I installed both regardless. 3) To close the hatch, I grab the inside handle and pull the it down to chest level, then move my hand to the top of the hatch near the wiper, and push it closed. I'm going to see if my girlfriend will be able to handle it... we swap cars often. If not, I'll try another alternative. Maybe I'll make a quick video and put it on YouTube. | | | 01-07-2008, 01:27 AM | #55 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2007 Location: LA, Bellflower, CA Posts: 3,613 | yeah. i did the same thing. most of us in SoCal Ti's bought these alternative struts to save money. they work good, just need a lil more force to bring them down to close. it doesnt over force the hatch open so thats the good part. __________________ -Theta Chi- Float like a cadilac, sting like a BIMMER .... my socket is just too thick and won't fit in the hole! damnit! So far a year with the strong arm Aerostar struts.. no problems. I can say this though, it is a good thing my g/f is both tall and strong as they have not weakened any in the past 12 months | | | 01-09-2008, 04:10 PM | #58 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2004 Location: Manassas, VA Posts: 4,129 | What is the exact part#? There seems to be more than one model for the Aerostar. Quote: Originally Posted by kneedrag32 I just installed the Strong Arm Aerostar struts and they certainly work and save money.
