Ive had number 1 valve problems and ive just found out what it was! The hydrolic lifter had broken, the little ring inside had moved into the oil way on some and jammed another. Is that usual? Ive taken all the clips out and the lifters seem to be all moving freely again. I just wondered if anyone else had this problem? Also can you get a 78mm headgasket for them ? Im wondering about s54b32 pistons in another block i have? thanks | | | 03-25-2017, 03:31 PM | #2 | Moderator Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Bouncing off the rev limiter in CT! Posts: 3,156 | 7 grand is getting close to the limot for hydraulic lifters. Did you replace them all when you did the cams? If not, shame on you... Their are several solid lifter conversion kits for the S50 and S52 to deal with this problem. I don't know if they are the same diameter as the M44 ones... But, you probably have a hydraulic cam, so solid lifters won't work well with it. Did you fix/deactivate your VANOS? That's another problem at high revs. If it is not working properly, you can get valves hitting the pistons. I'm not sure if that's what happened to you or not. I suggest you take a step back and evaluate the entire system to be sure every "upgrade" is properly supported by the "stock" parts being in good condition. | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Thread Tools | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
