m42 pluses

i was reading around other forums and i came across this write up.. is it true about the m42??!

Forged crank stock
Forged Rods stock
4 Valves per cylinder flows very well
New combustion chamber designed to maximize squish and fuel mixing for a complete burn
Integrated piston oil squirters (very beneficial for boosting, cools piston crown)
Sodium Filled valves (once again dissapates heat, great for boosting)
Strong iron block
No timing belt to break
Very well balanced and likes to rev

are our valves really filled with sodium?

Never heard of the M42 having that, but I know some cars have it.

I also did not think we have a forged crank stock... That is why people use the m47 diesel crank for high horsepower applications. The two weak points become the crank and the valve retainers.

The M47 crank has more stroke. That crank is used to get higher displacement

Can't say for certain that the BMW valves are, but many automotive applications use liquid sodium metal in the valves for cooling/transfer of heat away from the valve face.

LSM is also used in certain nuclear reactor designs as a cooling fluid!

Only the exhaust valves are soidum filled... yes it's true.

The M42 crank is forged. I don't know about the rods though.
