I also saw a bunch of e30's being parted on e30tech. You might have decent luck there. Most people have no use for the swapped out open diffs, so you may get them for cheap. Mine were free. __________________ 1997 332ti - Don't even ask. 2006 330i - ZPP/ZSP/ZCW/6sp/Nav/BT/H&R Sport 2011 E92 M3 | | | 06-25-2007, 09:31 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2005 Location: çî†ÿ øf åNgëL§, CA Posts: 5,314 | Quote: Originally Posted by larryn I got mine off locally from somebody listing an E30 being parted on craigslist. I get confused when i hear output flanges or diff flanges, i dont know what they are | | | 06-26-2007, 12:02 AM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2007 Location: Seattle, WA Posts: 402 | A diff has an input flange that connects to the drive shaft, and two output flanges that connect to the two half shafts. If you have the diff sitting there, the output flanges pop right out with very mild prying. If you yanked on them, they would probably pop out, but use a screwdriver, since it is easier. Once you pop one out, you'll see how easy they are to replace. The new output flanges will slide right in the same hole that the old ones came out of. __________________ 1997 332ti - Don't even ask. 2006 330i - ZPP/ZSP/ZCW/6sp/Nav/BT/H&R Sport 2011 E92 M3 | | | 06-26-2007, 01:05 PM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2005 Location: çî†ÿ øf åNgëL§, CA Posts: 5,314 | Quote: Originally Posted by larryn A diff has an input flange that connects to the drive shaft, and two output flanges that connect to the two half shafts. So then those that are on the differential wont connect to the E30 axles? Is the E30 (round things at the end that connect to the diff) smaller or bigger than the one on the diff? So im replacing the differential flange (the circlular part) with an E30 diff flange so that they evenly fit? Im just double checking and if my understanding is correct. Thanks again. | | | 06-26-2007, 01:14 PM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2007 Location: Seattle, WA Posts: 402 | You've got it. Pop the flange out and it will make more sense. The bolt pattern on the flange doesn't match the bolt pattern on the e30 half shafts. __________________ 1997 332ti - Don't even ask. 2006 330i - ZPP/ZSP/ZCW/6sp/Nav/BT/H&R Sport 2011 E92 M3 | | | 06-26-2007, 01:36 PM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2005 Location: çî†ÿ øf åNgëL§, CA Posts: 5,314 | Quote: Originally Posted by larryn You've got it.
