Just filled my tank a few minutes ago. I reset the odometer. I get home and look down. I drove 10.8 miles, and my tank is already 1/8th's empty. Wtf?! Somethings to know: No check engine light. No cracks in my boot. Spark plugs and wires replaced last year. Checked tire pressure last week. My cat is slowly going bad. I just recently replaced my front brake pads and rotors last night. __________________ Come get a ti-shirt Quote: From the e30 M3, evolved the e36. The o2 always went out on my sentra, and it would throw a CEL. __________________ Come get a ti-shirt Quote: From the e30 M3, evolved the e36. Possibly a dragging pad or stuck caliper Drive it around the block a couple times, make a few normal stops, put it in neutral and coast. See if it stops or pulls without applying the brakes. Then get out and feel around the front wheels. Don't touch the rotor or caliper because it will be scorching hot. If you notice one is significantly warmer than the other, check your tire pressure, I bet it's almost double what it's supposed to be. | | | 05-02-2009, 10:40 PM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2008 Location: Austin Posts: 3,059 | Quote: Originally Posted by cooljess76 Check that first. The driver side is warmer. I checked my tire pressure, and they're coming up fine. On the pads, the tip closest to the hub is slightly touching the rotor. How do I undrag the pads? __________________ Come get a ti-shirt Quote: From the e30 M3, evolved the e36. Sounds to me like dragging brakes. Remove calipers, push pads/pistons back into bore and reseat pads. If no fixie, continue diagnosis from there, check damaged brake lines etc. I think it is safe to rule out anything fuel guage related, as it accepted 13gal of fuel. | | | 05-02-2009, 11:40 PM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2006 Location: Oxford, Ohio Posts: 868 | before you over-react... run this tank close to empty and refill. Then check the miles travelled vs gallons to fill and get a real MPG reading. For all we know, you have a guage the reads funny at the top end. | | | 05-03-2009, 12:42 AM | #11 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: Gulfport, Florida Posts: 3,208 | Fuel hose leak between pump and regulator is my guess. No way to burn 1/8 tank in 10 miles unless it's a gauge issue | | | 05-03-2009, 01:36 AM | #12 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2006 Location: San Diego Posts: 231 | Someone siphoned off a couple gallons | | | 05-03-2009, 01:41 AM | #13 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2008 Location: Austin Posts: 3,059 | Quote: Originally Posted by bmvw Someone siphoned off a couple gallons | While I was driving? I was driving like a human being for once. And I was driving through a neighborhood. Not much space to race. __________________ Come get a ti-shirt Quote: From the e30 M3, evolved the e36.
