I think that they are part of the window itself, and are not replaceable. | | | 12-11-2017, 12:15 PM | #3 | Junior Member Join Date: Dec 2017 Location: EDINBURGH Posts: 13 | Dont say that. Surely not......... | | | 12-11-2017, 02:25 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2005 Location: Florida Posts: 178 | Quote: Originally Posted by MAZI Dont say that. Surely not......... | In the parts listing for the rear window glass (P/N 51368242601 & 51368242602), it lists the glass WITH the gasket: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=51_2147. #12 in the parts listing (P/N 51728146765 & 51728146766) are the body gaskets, not the ones on the glass. IMO, probably the only viable solution is to repair the existing gasket, since OEM new windows aren't likely available, and any from a boneyard would probably be cracked. | | | 12-11-2017, 02:47 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2005 Location: Florida Posts: 178 | FYI, I've searched far and wide on the internet for guides on repairing cracks in rubber gaskets, and found nothing. I have used a Permatex black silicone adhesive sealant (P/N 81158) to glue down the ends of the gasket (called a "cover" in the parts diagrams) at the base of the hatch glass, but haven't tried it to repair the window seals. | | | 12-11-2017, 09:02 PM | #6 | Junior Member Join Date: Dec 2017 Location: EDINBURGH Posts: 13 | Mine are torn and beyond repair. I have someone local that builds BMW Compact Cup cars and breaks these for parts so will see what he has when I see him. | | | 12-11-2017, 09:50 PM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2005 Location: Florida Posts: 178 | Quote: Originally Posted by MAZI Mine are torn and beyond repair. I'm fairly sure that I'll go the route of using the Permatex material, along with some rubber rejuvenation solution, but I'm holding off just to make sure that it's the right way to go. Good luck! | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
