Aftermarket deck installers in the TI toss the antenna. Don't know if you knew that or not... Although I seldom pull a stock unit for my own cars anymore, got tired of worrying about theft vandalism etc... Most places probably don't use it because a lot of newer head units have an integrated antenna and they couldn't be bothered to track down the e36 to modern head unit adapter. I agree its pretty basic, and if you get the crutchfield plug its got the correct connections... Oh well.
