spark plug removal

I bough some of the bosch platinum +4 spark plugs and i am itching to put them in. To get acess to the spark plugs do i need to take off the intake manifold or is there a way around doing this?

over the engine theres a black plastic piece with BMW embossed across it, just open that up use the little plastic pull tool to get the wires off, and a long wrench extension to get the plugs out, takes 5 minutes.
