Default Power Steering problems

I recently bought a 98 318ti with 82000 miles on it, and have noticed when turning left, it makes a grinding noise, and will do so for a few seconds afterwards. This only happens when im turning left. I cant figure out the problem. Is this common? Ive had power steering problems with every bmw ive had. I hope the 318ti doesnt have the same

I have the exact same problem and still haven't figured out what it is. My steering fluid is leaking though. I will take a look at it this weekend. by the way, did anyone change the fluid? how hard it is to drain the system?

i got a power steering flush, and it turns smoother, but the noise is still there. i guess im going to change the resevoir now. the lines are leaking from it anyway. is this a simple procedure for a not so good mechanic, or something id want to take to a mechanic who knows what hes doing?
