I'm assuming the Sparco would be better just because it's actually a name brand | | | 06-27-2009, 01:30 AM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | I think the only good strut would be on that ties to the firewall. That being said, I would not get one that is hinged. There are also clearance issues with ASC-T. I guess I'd go with BW's. Note: This bar will fit the E36 Ti Compact chassis only if the battery is relocated. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 06-27-2009, 02:15 AM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2005 Location: Louisiana Posts: 1,093 | i also read about the batt relocate. im just trying to stiffen up my strut mounts from wiggling back and forth when i lift my car. the bags kinda lift a little fast. it also doesnt help i had to cut out my inner fenders to lay out on the 19's so that kinda make them a little weak. so im looking for a beafy strut mount and the sparco looked ok, im just going for the non hinged and beafy bar ! i dont plan on road racing.. __________________ was the 1 an only Bagged Ti on 19's!! | | | 06-30-2009, 04:40 AM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2005 Location: Louisiana Posts: 1,093 | anyone wanna do a group buy on the sparco with me a say atleast 5 people and they should go down a lil bit or save us shipping ? __________________ was the 1 an only Bagged Ti on 19's!! | | | 06-30-2009, 04:06 PM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2008 Location: New York Posts: 188 | whats up with the cosmo racing bar? anyone use it, how does it fit? and for dguzzardo, why dont you put in smaller lift valves, say 3/8? or if your running 3/8's why dont you neck them down smaller, or even put lift controls on. that will help with your raising issues. | | | 06-30-2009, 04:15 PM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2007 Location: Elizabeth City, NC Posts: 3,877 | I have read that the sparco style bars are not ideal because they attach to the strut tower off-center. When it pulls it will try and twist the strut tower. The Racing Dynamics design centers the bars over the strut tower and should distribute the force equally to all the points. (Someone please correct me if I am wrong) __________________ ~Dave~ 98 328ti Morea Grun slicktop 11 128i space gray slicktop 13 JGC WK2 Deep Cherry Search | RealOEM | | | 06-30-2009, 04:27 PM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2008 Location: Raleigh/Charlotte, NC Posts: 1,233 | IMHO Hinged strut bar defeats the purpose of a strut bar. __________________ -Jeff | | | 06-30-2009, 05:03 PM | #11 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2007 Location: Elizabeth City, NC Posts: 3,877 | That's true, the hinges allow each side to move vertically but not inward or outward. The sparco might not be a bad bar, sucks that it doesn't mount all the way around the strut tower but it is solid. __________________ ~Dave~ 98 328ti Morea Grun slicktop 11 128i space gray slicktop 13 JGC WK2 Deep Cherry Search | RealOEM | | | 06-30-2009, 05:36 PM | #12 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: asdfasdf Posts: 10,002 | the Racing Dynamics bar for the 318 looks pretty much identical to the Cosmo bar as far as I can see, the problem is with the M42/4's intake manifold that sticks up really high, a bar that goes straight across will hit it unless you have a DASC so it has to have the bend in it | | | 06-30-2009, 06:36 PM | #13 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2005 Location: Louisiana Posts: 1,093 | its does have slowdowns on it but my main concern is when i hit a bump and such the strut towers move back and forth . and i want to stiffen up the front end to make sure they dont move as much. __________________ was the 1 an only Bagged Ti on 19's!! | | | 07-03-2009, 05:46 PM | #14 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2008 Location: New York Posts: 188 | this may be a dumb question, but will the strut bars still work/fit if you have the adjustable camber plates? | | | 07-03-2009, 08:44 PM | #15 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2005 Location: Seattle Posts: 181 | | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
