Default Any source for OEM speakers?

Has anyone found a source (besides the dealer) for OEM speakers?

My '96 Active needs new rear speakers. I'm not interested in after market but OEM. The BMW dealer quoted something like $65 for one (part number 65138360680) right side woofer (mid-range?) speaker.

Any suggestions would be appreciated . . .

Well, I guess I'll place the order to the parts department on Monday.

Aftermarket speakers will be like a night and day difference over stock, plus they would probably cost less. Just my two cents.

Our 318ti can fit the E36 M3 wheels staggered or non.

If I had to replace the OEM speakers then definitely get some nice aftermarket ones. Your ears will thank you later.

Are there after market speakers out there that don't need the modifications shown by Eric (e30fiend)

Please share some links to sites that offer 'em.

Thanks.

You can get alpines pretty much anywhere. the Crutchfield Catalog has AMAZING customer service, but you could take your car to audio express or best buy, and they'd be able to hook you up.

That's funny because my right rear speaker took a dump also now it sounds like popcorn popping. So 4 inch is the size for 1996 active pack ti's. Going to replace tomorrow. A very good head unit under $200 in the Sony cdx-gt510 it has red red illum. that will match heater control and emergency light button. I got it online at circuit city for $119 it's 139 in store. I Pod ready and many other features that $300 head units have and black face and trim ring none of that silver bull ish

From an aesthetics point of view, I want after-market speakers that fit into the existing OEM openings. That keeps the interior looking clean and design consistent. Does not seem Crutchfield has a solution. (see below)

Hello Doug,

Thanks for shopping the Crutchfield web site.

I would be glad to help with your question about replacement rear speakers for your BMW 318ti. The rear factory speakers in your car are an odd size. Unfortunately, we don't offer any aftermarket speakers that will fit directly without modifications. I wish I had better news for you there. You may want to consult with a professional installer.

I'm sorry that we couldn't help this time, but please let us know if you need anything else.

Thanks again for your e-mail.

Subject: Replacement speakers

My '96 BMW 318ti Active needs new rear speakers. I'm interested in after
market speakers that fit in the existing OEM locations. I think they are
approximate 4.5" in size. The BMW part number is 65138360680 for the
right side woofer (mid-range?) speaker. Does Crutchfield offer any
replacement speakers?

Thank you,

Doug Dill
