Default Grinding into 3rd

Hi, I just bought at 95 ti, and i am getting a griding noise when shifting into 3rd. If im very gentle with it i dont get the grind. I am told this is caused by the synchros being worn. Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem, and what they did to solve it. I have found a used tranny with a warranty for a very reasonable price, but i am also looking into rebuilding my tranny... any info would be great. Part numbers, suppliers, costs involved. Thanks

The tranny in the car has 120,000 miles, the used tranny that i can pick up has approximately 80,000, and i can get it for $700 CDN. which i think sounds fair. i just did a tranny service on it last week, just using some dex3 atf and some lucas trans fix stuff. was thinking about trying the redline MTL or Amsoil synth atf. to see if that helps any.

changing the tranny fluid was definetaly worth a try, I guess getting a new tranny is your only option unless you can find a good place to get your tranny rebuilt and bear without having the car for a while, well good luck

changing the fluid will make it worse most of the time believe it or not. sounds like you need a new tranny. Get one out of wrecked car or I see the trans on ebay going for $50-200.
good luck///

He says 2 different things.

In the title he says its an m42, but in the description he says e30 1991. Dunno which one it is.

Theoretically both could be correct since there were M42 in e30 chassis....
