Default A 95' 318ti M-Spec

Hello, I'm new here, but i've been following on the forums for the past month.

I've found myself a 95' 318TI Sport, manual ~173,000 "km". The interior is basically perfect except for the the driver side panel which is loose. Exterior has a small rust spot on the right quarter panel. I brought along 2 friends of mine which are good with cars. They told me the muffler needed to be changed, and the LSD will need replacement sometime in the near future. AC doesn't work, possibly the Air Compressor. The engine sounds good, and it handles smoothly. Asking price is $5000 CDN.

I wanted to know what you all think about it, and basically how much it would cost for parts/repair*. (*From what I've been reading, parts is the only difference in price to other cars and labour charge is the same as any other).

I'm no gearhead and I have a small knowledge about cars, but I'm willing to learn!

-Thanks

sounds like a pretty nice ti, the price might be a little steep but I think ti's are rarer in Canada so that might be why

Yeah I've been looking around for TIs and 318, but they're pretty rare even in the trader.

The Canadian conversion rate is more than US. $5,000 is probably equivialant to a little less than $4,000. See if you can get lower it down to $4,000 CDN.

And it's a no surprise the the door panel on the driver side is loose. Regulator/plastic clip problems which is pretty common with the ti's.

Owner is out of town for a bit, but I'll hopefully make negotiations by the end of the week. I'll post pics if I get the car

Does anyone know if they even offered the M Technik package on Canadian 318ti's in 1995? Would that make this car a ClubSport? If I'm not mistaken, Canada is part of BMWNA correct?

SolidSoln, what color is the interior and exterior? Does it have M3 mirrors, bumpers, badges on the side moldings? If the exterior is black or red, the interior is red cloth and it has 16" 5 spoke wheels, you may be looking at a rare car.

From what you described jess, I doubt I have the Clubsport. The exterior colour is dark purple, and the interior is black I believe. Didn't have time to pay much attention (was DAMN cold outside(its' -27C here right now)).

on the rear there is a //M badge on the left side of the trunk. From pictures, I haven't seen any with one on the left side. Does it mean anything or did one of the previous owners just added it on for kicks? Or does it signify the M Sport package?

I forgot to get the VIN, was trying to stay warm.

An ///M on the hatch was surely added by a previous owner. There ARE some small ///M's on the Sport 318ti's but none are more than about 1/2" high.

Hold the bus... you found a Techno Violet 318ti? Dang it... I want one! :-( Oh well... I guess I'll have to start scouring Canada for one of those.

I actually thinking of repainting it black after fixing the rust, if I can get the car. Maybe I'll leave it stock just for you

It may not actually be Techno Violet, some people refer to Cordobarot (the color of tiFreak's car) as "purple" too. Check the sticker in the engine bay, it'll tell you for sure. Anyway... if it IS Techno Violet, that's a legit BMW color, and as far as I can tell, it's somewhat rare. So, don't keep it the original color for me... do it just because it's a cool color. :-)

yup, and H3_2.1-ti has a VioletSchwarz ti, and to see if it's an M package or not, look in the interior, does it have a grey cloth/black leather combo or is it just straight leather or cloth?

Well it took me about a month, but I finally got it. I have to get it safetied before I can drive it. 2 things:

1) Muffler itself needs to be replaced
2) Fog Lights has problems, was told the fused keeps popping(wiring?)

hopefully I can find a muffler for cheap up here.

Here's the pic, LQ (cell phone pic).

That's definitely not "Cordobarot." I vote for "Techno Violet." :-) That "///M" is definitely not original, and it's missing the red stripe.

So, if I want a Techno Violet 318ti, I have to look in Canada... eh?

either techno-violet or violet-schwarz, they can look almost the same in pictures

EDIT: I checked his results Mallards VIN thread, it is violet-schwarz, also, I don't believe it's a sport package, looks to be an active
