I just got my car painted and hail from a bad storm put a dent on the hood. It was golf ball size hail. There are a few small scrapes but it looks like it scraped in the clear coat and not the paint. I'll have to take it to Dents Unlimited. They did a great jobs getting a dent out of my moms car and the'yll probablly wet sand my car too. I had my car cover on but apparently it wasnt enough protection. The cover did help prevent deep scrapes into the paint. But im heading to Lowes Hardware to get some insulation foam board and I'll just have to put the foam on my car under my car cover whenever there is sign of a storm. This is the second time in about 3 weeks we've seen hail in the storms. The first time it did no damage. __________________ 1995 BMW 318ti | | | 06-13-2006, 04:35 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2003 Location: cary, nc Posts: 2,259 | oh man im in cary NC and we have had some crazy hail storms....my car was parked on the street and me and my pops just ran outside in the hail (painful lol) to move it to the garage....im willing to take one to save my car....lucky i got it in the garage right away and it didnt get any damage __________________ 1995 318ti Active Pioneer Speakers [] Aluminum Billet door locks [] ACS Pedals/Deadrest [] ACS Shift Knob / E-Brake Handle [] Clear Corners/Tails/Sides [] Sylvania Exterior Lighting [] Custom CAI [] Dinan Engine Chip [] Dinan Transmission Chip [] H&R Race Springs [] Tokico Illumina Shocks [] BMW X-Brace [] Relocated Lighter Mod [] Custom iPod Mod http://www.cardomain.com/id/robcarync | | | 06-13-2006, 05:12 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2003 Location: Northern IL Posts: 263 | i have a small dent on my hood too that i would imagine is about the same size as yours, but mine was made by my friend sitting on the hood. i think i am gonna try to take off the black backing and try to pop it out myself from behind. unfortunately its on the crease of the hood, which could make things difficult. | | | 06-14-2006, 12:52 PM | #4 | Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: Greensboro, North Carolina Posts: 77 | Quote: Originally Posted by robcarync oh man im in cary NC and we have had some crazy hail storms....my car was parked on the street and me and my pops just ran outside in the hail (painful lol) to move it to the garage....im willing to take one to save my car....lucky i got it in the garage right away and it didnt get any damage | im glad your car wasnt damaged I wasnt so lucky. What makes it so bad, it was damaged in the crease on the hood. Im not sure if they can get that out. I hope I dont have to end up getting another hood and paint it. __________________ 1995 BMW 318ti | | | 06-15-2006, 12:32 AM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2003 Location: cary, nc Posts: 2,259 | no damage to the car....maybe some damage to my head though haha im sorry about the damage...good luck getting the dents out! __________________ 1995 318ti Active Pioneer Speakers [] Aluminum Billet door locks [] ACS Pedals/Deadrest [] ACS Shift Knob / E-Brake Handle [] Clear Corners/Tails/Sides [] Sylvania Exterior Lighting [] Custom CAI [] Dinan Engine Chip [] Dinan Transmission Chip [] H&R Race Springs [] Tokico Illumina Shocks [] BMW X-Brace [] Relocated Lighter Mod [] Custom iPod Mod http://www.cardomain.com/id/robcarync | | | 06-15-2006, 12:08 PM | #6 | Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: Greensboro, North Carolina Posts: 77 | Quote: Originally Posted by jdehaan i have a small dent on my hood too that i would imagine is about the same size as yours, but mine was made by my friend sitting on the hood. i think i am gonna try to take off the black backing and try to pop it out myself from behind. unfortunately its on the crease of the hood, which could make things difficult. | yup it can be difficult in the crease. It depends on how deep the dent is. __________________ 1995 BMW 318ti | | | 06-15-2006, 12:09 PM | #7 | Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: Greensboro, North Carolina Posts: 77 | Quote: Originally Posted by robcarync no damage to the car....maybe some damage to my head though haha im sorry about the damage...good luck getting the dents out! | lol!! they make hail proof car covers so im going to get one of those so I dont have any more damage to my car and my head lol!! __________________ 1995 BMW 318ti | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
