Posts: 3,156 | Magnesium rims are FAR lighter than Titanium or cast Aluminum. Forged aluminum is very light as well, since the wall thicknesses can be run thinner at the same strength. This is typically the best compromise for weight and cost. Magnesium wheels just like to catch fire, and burn about 5 degrees cooler than the surface of the sun, so they are not easy to get. All light wheels were made of Magnesium at one time. Where do you think the term 'Mags' comes from??? Try BBS for mags, and apply for the home equity mortgage now... | | | 01-04-2006, 05:00 PM | #12 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Saint Paul, MN Posts: 3,244 | Quote: Originally Posted by J!m Magnesium wheels just like to catch fire, and burn about 5 degrees cooler than the surface of the sun, so they are not easy to get. | Ooooooooohh- me wanna see! If you look at it you will also go blind or at least damage your eyes. Kosei K-1s and Team Dynamics seem to be the best options for light weight cheap rims. | | | 01-07-2006, 03:00 AM | #15 | Member Join Date: Jan 2006 Location: VA. beach Posts: 61 | i got a set of 17x8 super leggeras for sale if anyone is interested. brand new, had them on for a week and could not get trackton/ not wide enough. they are wraped in dunlop 235/40zr17 90w | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
