Default Wondering wht that sound is

Maybe I can get some help from someone! When I push the gas on my car (even while im on idle) I get a load humming sound. I was told it might be the alternator but now Im being told it might also be the water pump. the car has 124k and i dunno if the pump has ever been replaced. Has anyone here had to change the water pump and if so how much was the damage $$$$?

You get a what? "load" humming or "low"?

Is it a stick shift or auto?
Can you record the sound for us?

Well, it might be the alternator.. the pump.. or the bearings.. We have to isolate it. Where do you hear the humming sound? in the rear? do you still hear it when the car is moving?..
