Hi guys, I just got my 318ti a couple weeks ago and I'm lovin' it. Sure beats the Jetta Ive been driving for the last 5 years in just about every aspect (except trunk space). Heres a pic, and pardon the size. Photobucket kept killing my internet window when I tried to resize it. So what are some cheap, yet tasteful ways to personalize my car? | | | 06-17-2008, 10:21 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: asdfasdf Posts: 10,002 | Quote: Originally Posted by nesticle So what are some cheap, yet tasteful ways to personalize my car? | unless you are one of the people who loves amber signals, clear or smoked signals would be a good start, welcome to the forum | | | 06-17-2008, 10:23 PM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2006 Location: Central NJ Posts: 2,440 | I love amber signals :-D And welcome!! It's a 1996, isn't it? | | | 06-17-2008, 10:26 PM | #4 | Junior Member Join Date: Jun 2008 Location: Vancouver, BC Posts: 23 | I'm kind of torn on the signals. I changed my signals on my Jetta to white (as well as brake lights) because it suited the car, but I think since its a black car... the amber works pretty well with it. And damn you're good. It is a 96. And from what I've read it has the M44 engine? It's pretty low mileage too. Only 72k miles. Here's how I knew it was a 1996: Ti's were made from 1995-1999 1995 ti's had gray lowers (bumpers/rear/side panels/etc.) 1996 ti's had body-colored lowers, but kept the pre-facelifted grill and side marker So, yours must be a 1996! 1997-1998 had the facelift and body-colored lowers, so I haven't determined a way to figure out that discrepancy 1999 was sport models only, so if it's a sport model, it could be between 1997-1999 This site is full of random info. like that! | | | 06-17-2008, 11:17 PM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2007 Location: Eugene Oregon Posts: 6,182 | how much did you pick her up for? it looks clean!! and low miles! i would say keep the ambers. maybe blacked out grills. and if you want different wheels that can change the car completely __________________ -Josh Sold-1995 318ti, Club Sport, Hellrot Sold-1996 318ti, Active Model, Boston Green Current- 1995 318ti, sport model, schwartz | | | 06-17-2008, 11:23 PM | #8 | Junior Member Join Date: Jun 2008 Location: Vancouver, BC Posts: 23 | Yeah I've been thinking about newer wheels, but the search is pretty narrow since pretty much only BMW has 5x120 wheels. The 17" Mille Miglias in that pic are basically the summer wheels, and the winter tires are on the original steelies. I picked it up for 7k. Keep in mind the west coast of Canada is notorious for stupidly high priced used cars. As well I wasn't aware that there was so mch change between the years. I was curious though as to why some of the ti's I've seen around have rear wipers and spoilers. Was it part of a package or something? | | | 06-17-2008, 11:34 PM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2007 Location: Eugene Oregon Posts: 6,182 | well in the states all ti's have rear wipers. check to see if you have a hole someone may have just removed it. and the spoiler was just an option from the factory. __________________ -Josh Sold-1995 318ti, Club Sport, Hellrot Sold-1996 318ti, Active Model, Boston Green Current- 1995 318ti, sport model, schwartz | | | 06-18-2008, 12:03 AM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2006 Location: Stamford, CT <-> Boston, MA Posts: 1,393 | Front Plate Delete, M3 Mirrors and Sport Moldings I think would be some tasteful, aesthetic mods.
