I saw a 96 318ti for sale, asking $1500, seems cheap to me, is it? Apparantly it runs and drives great, needs tires and the passenger window is "off its track), also has a dent on the right side, i think in the fender. Its dark green in color. It has 170,000 miles, a little high, but thats not really a big deal to me. I'm going to take a look at it today. It does not seem to be owned by an enthusiast, which could be good or bad . Does it sound like a good deal? I think it does, just need a little back up. thanks, Jeff __________________ 1989 BMW M3 1995 BMW 525it 1989 BMW 325ic 2005 Nissan Xterra 1971 VW Baja Bug | | | 11-25-2007, 03:18 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | Worth taking a look. Hopefully it's not a bad window regulator and just a popped bushing. But still. $1500? __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 11-25-2007, 04:05 PM | #3 | Junior Member Join Date: Dec 2005 Location: Middlesex, NJ Posts: 8 | yeah, thats what i was thinking, if it is a regulator, are they ti specific? Or can I use one from a 2 or 4-dr e36? Hey one more question, how well do baby seats and booster seats fit in the back seat of the ti's? __________________ 1989 BMW M3 1995 BMW 525it 1989 BMW 325ic 2005 Nissan Xterra 1971 VW Baja Bug | | | 11-25-2007, 04:53 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | Quote: Originally Posted by JeffNJM3 yeah, thats what i was thinking, if it is a regulator, are they ti specific? The ti window is too big for the regulator. Baby seats fit back there but I think you need to have something added to support it. Baby seats in a two door can't be any fun. My babies both have 4 legs, so I can't really offer any further advice. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 11-25-2007, 05:15 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2006 Location: Wisconsin Posts: 1,895 | Miles are too high for me, but at that price it is not a bad deal. I had to pay a lot more for mine because it had only 75,000 on it. __________________ ... ʎɐqǝ uo pɹɐoqʎǝʞ ɐ ʎnq ı ǝɯıʇ ʇsɐן ǝɥʇ sı sıɥʇ | | | 11-25-2007, 05:37 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2007 Location: nj Posts: 316 | yah i saw that one on the north jerz craigslist. it dont seem bad for what your paying. and if you end up get real into performance stuff it could be a great car for a motor swap. i live pretty close to that green one | | | 11-25-2007, 06:41 PM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: Memphis, Tn Posts: 1,299 | Quote: Originally Posted by 1996 328ti My babies both have 4 legs, so I can't really offer any further advice. | what do you mean they have 4 legs????? like each of them have two and 2 + 2 = 4. or do u mean they each have 4??????? j/k by the way. but it just sounded funny the way you said it. __________________ custom dual exhaust,M3 front and rear bumper, 10.4 inch roof mount drop screen, Viper alarm system, DSII's rims, M3 Vader Seats, M3 Mirrors, Carbon Fiber CAI, Smoked Corners, Side Markers, Leatherz armrests, black grilles 225k miles and still the Ti goes on | | | 11-25-2007, 06:52 PM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | Quote: Originally Posted by Will'sBeamer what do you mean they have 4 legs????? like each of them have two and 2 + 2 = 4. or do u mean they each have 4??????? j/k by the way. but it just sounded funny the way you said it. | I have two Jack Russells. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 11-25-2007, 08:59 PM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2007 Location: Eugene Oregon Posts: 6,182 | Haha two dogs I was thinking maybe you meant they crawl around a bunch. Lol 1500 doesn't seem bad depending on the condition. That dent could in fact be a huge thing but can't tell til you are looking at it in person. __________________ -Josh Sold-1995 318ti, Club Sport, Hellrot Sold-1996 318ti, Active Model, Boston Green Current- 1995 318ti, sport model, schwartz | | | 11-29-2007, 04:52 AM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2006 Location: Orange County, NY Posts: 1,067 | I would check it out. $1500 sounds like a good investment if the car has good history. I just paid $6,000 for a Club Sport with 110k miles and it's pretty beat up. The inside stinks, left mirror doesn't work, ashtray cover flips open rather than that smooth motion, the ABS light is on, the brakes vibrate when applied, no center console for your CD's and change. Let's see, what else. Oh yeah, the outside is mint which leads me to think that maybe it was a track car. It's in the shop right now so it can pass inspection. The plus is that the suspension and steering is definitely tighter than my other ti, a 97 Sport. It also looks real pretty in red. | | | 12-07-2007, 09:01 AM | #11 | Junior Member Join Date: Oct 2007 Location: Mansfield Center, CT Posts: 13 | Quote: Originally Posted by JeffNJM3 It has 170,000 miles, a little high, but thats not really a big deal to me. The key is not whether the car was owned by an enthusiast but periodic maintenance by whoever owned it. I'd sure give it a look. | | | 12-07-2007, 03:23 PM | #12 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2007 Location: Eugene Oregon Posts: 6,182 | Quote: Originally Posted by bruce19 My '95ti motor is stock and has 155K on it.
