I ended up machining a part with a spacer to get me up over the rim of the head. The clamp is a Bessey DuoKlamp, which has rubber pads and plastic jaws, so as to be kind to the aluminum head surface. I looked at the Sears valve spring compressor, but because the valve springs are set so low in the head, I didn't think it would work. Pardon the machining; my only mill is a small horizontal, which is cumbersome at best. Last edited by paul somlo; 01-31-2017 at 05:28 AM. |
