I went to the parts house(autozone) today to get a few parts and clear an O2 code on my Ranger(i didnt connect the sensors after installing a trans). I have borrowed scanners from this particular store many times but today they said no. According to the parts guy 'Beginning this week, due to Cali legislation OBD scanners can no longer be lent out by parts stores.' He said i can either buy one or take it to a dealer! F that! Has anyone else heard about this or is he crazy?? | | | 07-16-2008, 05:31 AM | #2 | Moderator Join Date: Dec 2006 Location: SoCal318ti Posts: 1,574 | First time I hear of this and try another Autozone to see if they tell you the same thing. | | | 07-16-2008, 05:39 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: norcal - 94590 Posts: 3,186 | I've never heard of that either... Sounds like they just want to sell you something... I agree, try another location... __________________ James 95 active w/leather interior and sport interior conversion, Vaders, full M-Tech exterior conversion. It's much more flexible than a code reader and costs about the same. __________________ - '96 Alpinweiß active - 190k mi - CF hood (actually painted), HAI, Bilstein Sports, X-brace, Failed Window Regulator Tint Mod '79 VW Rabbit TD L - Project soon to be 1.9 TDI | | | 07-19-2008, 04:31 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: SoCal Posts: 305 | I heard the same thing yesterday. Like you I've rented or borrowed scanners many times from Autozone. I'm sure middle management saw the number of scanners being checked out and believed each rental could be turned into a sale and therefore changed the policy. I broke down and brought a scanner, hell I should have a long time ago. __________________ | | | 07-24-2008, 12:39 AM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2006 Location: Pittsburgh, PA Posts: 1,224 | Quote: Originally Posted by the governor I heard the same thing yesterday. | +1 tried to borrow a scanner in Erie - said ok, but didn't have any available. tried to do so in Pittsburgh - told we don't do that. | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
