ISSUES!!! I am installing some new e30 halfshafts. I made sure the splines are the same as my old ti ones but they really are not going through the hub. I know the spline is ok as i can push it in and it will grab. But i cannot get it any futher than about half way through the splined hub. I can get the end of the threaded section just about flush, which sucks as i am sure if i could get the nut on the end i could pull it through. Anyone had this happen and if so whats the secret?? tHANKS LEE | | | 05-23-2010, 01:06 AM | #2 | NOBODY F's with the Jesus Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: Ventura California Posts: 7,824 | Did you remove the ABS sensors from the trailing arms? If not, and you tried to force it through, there's a good chance that you've damaged the sensors. The e30 ABS halfshafts have larger tone rings and the Ti's sensors need to be shimmed. | | | 05-23-2010, 01:51 AM | #3 | Member Join Date: Feb 2009 Location: Florida - Tampa Posts: 92 | 2 cents Quote: Originally Posted by cooljess76 Did you remove the ABS sensors from the trailing arms? If you are working with HI-temp grease, I have no idea what the compounds will do together - whether or not the emulsifying caused by the brake fluid will damage the grease. ***Do not use a lot of BF! a little bit goes a very long way! CJ76 in either case makes an interesting point - if you haven't removed the sensors, that might be a good place to start. If not the stock ti small case differential is narrower than the medium case diff and it will not work with the shorter e30 axles. __________________ Alpine Weiß 1995 318ti M50tu mostly stock, chip'd 413, AFE Intake. e36 M3 front brakes, e30 M3 rear calipers. e28 3.25 LSD + e30 axles. I am surprised how tight they are. I have done a lot of half shaft replacements before and never had this much hassel! | | | 06-01-2010, 02:36 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2008 Location: detroit Posts: 157 | The half shafts were just a very tight fit!
