Default Should I be able to move the transmission by hand (near the mounts)?

There is about a 1/4" of play in each direction when moving it from left to right. One mount isn't straight up and down either. The top looks like its sliding off the rest of the mount. Is this a failed mount? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Either a failed motor mount or failed transmission mount. I recently had a motor mount fail and that caused the transmission to push off of it's mount. I could not get the transmission mounts lined back up properly until I replaced the motor mounts.

That will be fun to replace!

Easton, not to far from me. If you need a hand.

You should jump on the NY, NJ, Conn meet which might be in central NJ, if it happens, lol.

If your a manual trans with stock shifter, I have a modded M3 shifter im looking to offload for cheap.

Lmk, email preferred.

it does sound like a failed mount, which would be directly connected to the noise you asked about last week

glad it turned out to be this, and its a relativly easy fix

Cool. Thanks for all the help on troubleshooting that guys. Esp. you Mallard. I haven't yet gotten a chance to replace the mounts but it does look pretty easy from all the writeups I've seen. My car sees 0 track time so I'll most likely be going with the Rogue Engineering mounts. At $45 a pair - you can't beat that. Since I'll probably also have to take that down, I was looking for an excuse to pop in a short shifter with the Rogue Engineering selector rod and a Stromung exhaust but I may be stretching it a bit....
