Default No Crank issues need help!!

I just completed a head gasket replacement on a M44 - automatic and hooked everything and try to start the car and it cranked well, but it did not start.

I realized that the camshaft and crank shaft sensor were not connected then I thought, that is my issues. I reconnected these and checked every other connection and was sure it was going to start; but to my surprise the car it did not even crank.

I can hear the fuel pressure regulator kicked on, therefore I have pressure to the fuel rail. All the electronics inside work well.

What is next to check? the DME relay? the fuel relay? The key transmitter went bad?

maybe a quick check to see if you have voltage applied to the solenoid wire at the starter? (while holding the key in starting position)

I checked all connections and jacked the car to get to the solenoid wires and wiggle them, they all looked good and they were thigh.

I also checked all 3 fuses and wiggle them. My battery was low therefore I connected the charger to jumped the car; the car cranked (several times) but did not start I tried several times but it seems that the battery and charger were not at full capacity an the charger need it to be charge more.

So the car cranked and tried to start but ran out of juice, however after few tries the no crank came back; therefore I stopped.

I will try to get to all the wires again and will make sure my battery is fully charge. I also need fuel and will change the fuel filter just in case and will try again.

Let me know if you have any ideas about the intermitent no crank

Make sure you have a fully charged battery and check your ground wires from chassis to motor.

Since the fuel pump relay is active that tells me you have no EWS issues and it is a low voltage battery issue.

With a good battery on first time starts after the fuel rail was drained for the head work it is going to need to crank over for 15-30 seconds to build enough fuel pressure to fire her up.

If you get a good battery and it cranks but no start with fuel pressure you have a spark issue...

Good luck, John S
