can i swap my m42 engine for a s50 engine on my 1995 318ti?

I hate to sound like a jerk but all of your threads/questions can be answered if you search. There is the google search to the left and the forum search at the top right, they are pretty good at finding relevant threads.

Different years arent even a question...

95 OBDI
96-99 OBDII

Those are the only two choices for On Board diagnotics, everything is the same as far as the swap goes.

OBDI, you cut one wire and plug it in and go.

OBDII you need EWSII aligned by the dealer, software to have it deleted, or install everytihng from the donor car.

There are many writeups on it, and SERIOUSLY, its a bolt in and go job.
