It is on top of the block under the fuel rail & or manifold. It is plastic & has one small coolant hose attached to it.The part broke while the car was @ idle, the car has not ran hot or had any other problems until this. There is a little over an inch of a nub left & it has one groove left in it.I can get to it without having to take every thing apart to replace.I am wondering what made this do this in the first place & if I am able to reattach the hose as is would it hold.Nevertheless @ this point I need to find out what this part is.I am grateful for any & all help. | | | 05-05-2011, 10:29 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 05-05-2011, 10:54 PM | #4 | Junior Member Join Date: May 2011 Location: Southaven,Ms Posts: 6 | Quote: Originally Posted by 1996 328ti | BINGO RINGO Thank U ...THANK U VERY MUCH I have been looking for the answer to this since yesterday. I can't believe what has to be moved in order to get to this. There is a little nib a little over an inch long I can get to without taking anything apart. However I am not sure if that would hold, seeing how it must have had a lot of pressure build up to break this part.A friend of one sons has offered to do it for $30- $40 & I think that is what I'm gonna do let him do it,as I am unable to do it myself. I guess I am old school but,If this part would have been metal, like the thermostat housing this would not of happened. I think that every member of this website would agree. | | | 08-06-2012, 09:53 PM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2012 Location: Sacramento, CA Posts: 2,451 | It is easiest in my opinion to remove the intake manifold. 18 or so nuts and bolts, plus taking off the airbox, MAF and fuel rail. You don't have to disassemble/remove the throttle body off the upper intake. I'm assuming you have a M42, M44 isn't any harder except for the Y-connector at the back of the head. PM me and I'd be happy to walk you through it if you need a hand. __________________ 1998 318ti Sport - "Cali" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior, Cali top 1998 318ti Sport - "Max" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior, S52 1997 318ti Sport - "Tiny" Schwartz II/Schwartz sport interior 1995 318ti Active - "Blanca" Alpineweib III/Schwartz leather interior Other Current Bimmers: 2006 530i / 2000 2.3L Z3 / 1997 1.9L Z3 / 1999 540it 1997 318ti Sport - "Huera" - RIP 1995 318ti Active - RIP 1995 318ti Sport - "Tiny" Sold 1994 325i Sedan - "Jade" - Sold 1991 318ic - "Bert" - Sold 1985 635csi sold 1984 533i "Max" Sold 1984 318i sold BMWCCA #160411 SUPPORT 318ti.org!
