I think any variety of "deep cycle" batteries are rubbish for starting batteries. If your car sits for months and months, may be appropriate but if you are driving it I think that a normal starting battery is just as competent and lasts just as long.
From what I've read, the Odyssey is predominantly intended for a cranking application although it does act as a deep cycle as well to account for a the parasitic drain that a lot of modern cars have. this accounts for things like alarms, internal computers, and GPS systems.

1200 cranking amps though!! (different from amp hours)

in the colder months in Canada i can certainly feel (and hear) a slower cranking of the engine with a conventional battery. i would imagine this would put a lot of strain on the starter motor.
