Dave: 2.5" is the right size if you put it over the rubber pad which has a sleeve that goes between the shock body and the bearing and washers. They will quickly chew up the rubber and because my wheels were just about touching to begin with, the washer has cut a groove in side of my tire. That's why I need to make one out of aluminum or steel..

Wow, I am sorry man. You need to start a thread on bf.c, bring this public and make DDM own up to their mistakes. There is a thread in the DDM forum now where a guy with a Z3 is having issues and all the DDM fanbois with "regular" E36s are telling Z3 guy that he is wrong. This really is complete BS.
Did you see the issues with the E39 coils a while back? The strut body was the completely wrong diameter to even fit in the receptacle. Only after several people posted publicly that there were huge problems did DDM do anything about it.
Now they are magically "redesigning" all of the coilovers because of inner seal issues...they claim they will replace everyones blown shocks, of course making them look like the good guys.
sigh...you are right Jess
...people should stick to buying bumpers and headlights from DDM, if that.
Oh and turbo5s (Mike) is referring to the fact that DDM coilovers have no bearings in the front strut assembly so when we make a turn the spring doesn't spin back to neutral, it stays in the same place, this awesome feature makes the car pull in the direction you just turned in! Fantastic...He found that putting some bearings under(?) the spring will help the issue. I need to buy some now.
