never carried the spare in the 1997, still got it under the Club..but that's just cause I have not dropped it yet. on the 1997 I cut the carrier down to just fill the hole and drove like that. No problems I though since I had run-flats..but then the problem with the OE Z4 run flats came into being.
When the 3.46 goes in, the spare is coming out, and I am going to have to hope the M mobility kit I go on ebay works if I ever need it. OR I remove the carpet in the rear and come up with a way to lug around a 16x7" full size spare...which I sometimes do now(but in a wheel bag) for long haul trips. but I saw a Pan-Mexico Rally BMW(502 V8 saloon), with two full size spare mounted on the rear bulk head of the cabin(where the seats normally are) and I thought that was a cool Idea. |
