Sometime down the road I intend to do either a dual A-Arm or a multi-link rear setup. Struts up front can work really well when properly setup and there are lots of parts available for the E36 to correct the OEM geometry for a much lower car. Probably the easiest (and best) way to do it would be to pick up the suspension out of a donor car that has the entire suspension mounted on a subframe and then simply build a new subframe that used the donor car geometry but managed to fit it on the 318ti. Suspension geometry design is VERY complex, starting with a donor car that handles well (using front struts preferably) and has aftermarket support would probably put you miles ahead on a setup that works well without multiple revisions. |
