it can, but not very likely.
To clean it get some "MAF Cleaner" from the auto parts store, or electronic contact cleaner from radio shack. Spray inside the MAF onto the elements. Do NOT disassemble the unit.
Also check for leaks in your intake boot, and also clean your idle air control valve. __________________ -Jeff
