For the most part I agree. The only gains I got on my old one were at top end where it was actually trying to suck more air. I'm planning to try and put my own together using parts from spectre performance which you can pick up at your local O'Reillys. My old one was an ICEMAN which had a removeable downpipe so I could run run the filter up top in bad weather so I am want to build something similar for my E36.
