Smile Neutral Safety Switch, obd2 328i engine and manual trany swap

Hello all
I've been lurking for awhile and found this site very helpful with my conversion. I could use some enlightenment on the neutral safety switch with my swap. Here is the specifics

98 318ti with a donor 98 328i obd2 engine and automatic already swapped in. I had a wrecked donor and I swapped in the donors wire harness, ecu, ews, instrument cluster and automatic computer. I re-keyed the doors, trunk and ignition with the donor locks. I relocated the battery to the trunk and made a sweet aluminum cover for the miata battery in the cubby hole in the rear. The car runs great. no codes. Thanks for all the inspiration and the info. I now plan to convert it to a manual.

I've collected everything i need to covert it to a manual. Shifter assm, clutch pedals assembly, clutch pressure plate and flywheel, 5 speed zf manual, and 328i drive shaft. I have a e30 188mm LS differential and axles. All bushings and seal replaced. I plan to do the swap one of these weekends when I get a chance. I also plan to swap in some cherry electric and heated leather seats out of a m3 (thats another thread). It should be a blast when complete.

I plan to run the wires to the clutch pedal for the neutral safety switch. Per the threads publish here and elsewhere I plan to tie into the wire harness at the shifter (can't remember which wires at the moment).

I have the clutch pedal assembly from a donor car. It has a switch mounted for the clutch pedal. Finally the question. Should I use this switch or as I read in another thread, swap out that switch and use a re-purposed second brake pedal switch. Are the switches the same or (I'm guessing here) is the brake switch normally open and the clutch switch normally closed (maybe vice-a-versa)? I plan to re-code the car computer once all is said and done so it knows its a manual. What is the correct switch to use in this instance? The clutch pedal switch or a re-purposed brake switch. Maybe the switches are the same and no worries. But I'm thinking the computer when programmed as a manual will be looking for either a open or closed clutch switch signal when the pedal is depressed for start and engine RPM management. This logic may be different if the computer is left programmed as an automatic. Can anyone shed some light on this?

Thanks
