Well, they do help. Unfortunately it confirms my suspicion that the side rubber grommet does overlap the upper one and the lower rubber/plastic grille piece (there's gotta be a proper term for it). I never looked at it closely before I had the windshield replaced. It's definately not sitting right though, as I can lay a coin flat on the windshield and slip it under the side grommet, on the driver's side at least. I think on the passenger side it's correct, or almost correct.
