Hello, I'm new here. I joined because I'm considering buying my coworker's ti.
It's a '96 with 240K miles, 5 speed, I believe an "Active" model based on
this post because it's got alloys & sunroof. He's owned it as long as I've known him, and we've worked together for 10+ years.
It needs a clutch, but I can do that myself, unless there's something tricky about it (I'm reading the Pelican Clutch how-to now). He just replaced a leaky valve cover gasket and he said the tires are recent. I don't know much more, I just found out yesterday it was for sale.
He was going to put it on C/L for $1K, said he'd sell it to me for less. I'm assuming I could pick it up for $700-$800. The mileage scares me a bit, but his long history with the car is a plus. He's said before it's been very reliable.
Is that sound like a good deal? I read the sticky thread and I'll ask about the windows, recalls & plastic cooling system parts. What else would scare you away from this car at that price?
