I own a 1999 318ti with 250,000 kms. There is a smell of antifreeze in the cabin occasionally and 1 cup of coolant missing every 400 km. There are electrical problems too maybe due to leaking coolant(door locks and traction lights). Our mechanic thinks this all points to heater core leak. We do have decent heat though for Canadian winter.
We are planning to remove the dash replace the core, and check electrical. Also found that the motor mounts need changing and the injector needs to be removed to replace Cam sensor. Is there anything else we should replace while this is being done? We are looking at a lot of hours here at $60/ so I want to make sure we are covering all the bases. Our mechanic is very good, but has not worked on BMW much, so he would like any info available.
