So, barring some miracle where I either win the lottery or have a m3 donor car appear in my driveway with a sticky note on it that says "for zboot with love", I'm going to be swapping my bad m44 with a good m44.

I plan on following the bentley manual for this though with an engine removal, it says to remove the tranny first (from below). Is this any better or less difficult than removing the engine+tranny then disconnecting afterwards, coupling the new engine to the tranny and putting it back?

I'm pissed though. I missed out on picking up a m3 donor car from a guy on bimmerfest.com for $1500. Even after shipping it up here, it would still have been a steal!
