I've had a rental A3 2.0l turbodeisel with sports package/6sp in Germany, earlier this year. That car was a pretty fun car, and I thoroughly enjoyed seeing (///) signs and planting foot for as long as I could. It never seemed to hit a rev or speed limiter, but obviously couldn't go faster than ~210kph (130mph), but it was rock solid. Pretty fun on secondary roads too, which are twisty and undulating.
