I like the advice Judith Martin's mother gave her about crossing the Atlantic by passenger ship: that she should always travel in first class or third class when crossing, but
never second. In first class, you had luxury; in third class, you had fun. This, as Miss Manners put it, was the proper distribution of the world's blessings. In second class, you had neither. Instead, you had a gnawing uncertainty.
If you replace luxury with power you could very well be describing that forum and this one. On this forum, we are travelling third class, and damn well enjoying it.
