To rule out the fuel pump, use a voltmeter to see if you're getting voltage to the fuel pump, before replacing it. If you have voltage, and it's still not working, replace that. Cheap and decent multimeters can be bought from Lowes or Home Depot for $20, less when on sale.

I would doubt it's the filter, as you'd likely get some sputtering and prior warning it was fouled.

Btw, the Fuel Pump Relay is in the fuse box in position 1, right next to the system (main/DME) relay. You might also want to check that relay as well.
