Sorry, all the things I just mentioned are because all seasons rarely provide enough traction for rear wheel drive vehicles with light rear ends when climbing snowy icy etc.

Winter tires are effectively "softer" than normal or all season tires. You'll wear the crap out of them if you keep driving them when it gets warm. This was new to me until I moved "up here." Also...
