To Houston...and eventually back

Well this morning around 4:45 we left for Houston, TX. Time to meet the fiance's family (the rest of them). I drove my Ti with me, Ashtin (the fiance), and her little sis who was sprawled out in the back seat the whole time and slept like a baby...side note, she is 5' 1" (she said 3/4). I never realized how much space was in the back. Well when we checked the oil last night it was showing absolutely none in there so we added some 5w-30 this morning (I'll get back to the reason I stated this). We had to pick up her mom's BF on the way and about 11 hours later we arrived at our location. The Ti made it in one piece even with 253K miles on it...I would call it a big test for that little car.

Back to the reason for the oil mention...I put Castrol Syntec 10W-30 in it (full synthetic) and my engine has been quite loud...I replaced the timing chain tensioner last Thursday which quieted it down a little bit...but after throwing the Pennsoil 5W-30 in it, it quieted down dramatically. I was highly amused and later that day my dad got a call from a guy that was supposed to look at my car and tell me why the engine was loud and he said NOT to put full synthetic in the engine because it wasn't thick enough. But that's just a side note from a BMW mechanic.

:confused::confused::confused:
Also I was having a bit of an AC issue...every once in awhile the AC, on 4, would go down to the power of about 1 or 2 and take awhile to pick back up. What could be going on? BTW it was about 85-90 degrees out and we were running on the interstate at about 75.

well welcome to houston! it could be caused maybe by a loose belt? does it do the same thing if you have the ac off? if so then maybe a blower motor.

usually what i have noticed is if the engine is making noises from oil i will bump up to a thicker oil

if needed im sure i could meet up with you if you need any help.

idk if its a belt or what...the other day i was driving to work
(about 20 minutes away) and when i would push in the clutch to stop at a red light my rpm's would almost drop to the point of my car dying but when I turned the AC off it was fine...what could be the issue here?

Well, I made it back in one piece along with the car. no problems what-so-ever. I love that little thing.
